“The SILENT BLUE were formed by me (Markus Holler) in September 1986 after leaving THE FORTUNATE SONS (Robin Wills’ post-BARACUDAS band). I pretty much found Graham straight away and we bashed around for a few years working on songs and trying to find other musicians. Kevin came along on drums and we found Dave through an ad in the press. At the time I was at Sound Engineering school up in North London, and Nigel (Godrich, later to produce RADIOHEAD, BECK etc) was my best mate there. We used to record lots together and two of the tracks on this album stem from our nightly recording sessions. Funnily enough, those two tracks sound unlike anything he later did with Radiohead, but we were just kids. I suppose it’s pretty cool that he actually did his first ever sessions with us. The album did well and got great reviews, but I looked around for new and better musicians to try and clinch a possible deal with A&M. The deal never happened (surprise surprise) but did reform the band, this time with RICK CORCORAN, TAM JOHNSTONE & TIM McTIGHE joining. RICK is now of course the genius behind the ORGONE BOX and TAM has found great acclaim with his GENERAL STORE album.”
